Radford and California Claim Top Seeds in NorPac Field Hockey Championship
Radford, Va. - The NorPac Field Hockey Conference announced the pairings for the 2002 NorPac Field Hockey Championship, Nov. 7-9, 2002 in Stanford, Calif.
Defending NorPac champion California-Berkeley and Radford University hold the number one seeds in the West and East divisions respectively. The Bears (6-0 NorPac) claimed the West Division title and will be the top seed for the second consecutive year and will take on the fourth seed out of the east, Appalachian State (1-5) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. While the Highlanders, in only their second season in the Conference, claimed the East Division title with a 4-1 NorPac record and will face the fourth seed out of the west, Saint Louis (0-6) at 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 7.
Host Stanford (4-2) claimed the second seed in the west for the second consecutive season. The Cardinal will face the third seed in the east, Davidson (3-3) at 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 7. Last season's East Division champion, Southwest Missouri State (3-2) will be the second seed in the east and will take on the third seed in the west, Pacific (2-4) at 9:00 a.m. on Nov. 7.
The semifinal games will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, while the consolation games will also be played on that day at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Championship match will be played on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 12:30 p.m., while the third-place match will be held prior to that at 10:00 a.m.
